Hi,wife and I have been motorhomers for over 54 years !! first 12 years were with my mum and dad. He bought a new VW campervan in August 1959 !!
Since then we have had numerous vans of all shapes and sizes, current motorhome is a VW Crafter panel van conversions,4 berth with all the usual bits and pieces very well fitted by a company called, Motorcraft Conversions near Doncaster, cannot praise them highly enough, quality of workmanship is excellent.!!
As we "Do" lots of rallies in the UK and in Europe getting stuck on a rally field once to often in our Bailey 740 last year was enough ! do not like getting towed of a muddy rally field.!
Hence the VW , it has 16" wheels with all weather tyres on it ! plus being rear wheel drive makes getting of the fields far simpler !!
Other bonus is that it is more economical the either Fiat or Peugeots base motorhomes, I regularly get 35/37 mpg (on cruise on longer runs)
We are both retired so in no rush. next week we are away for Christmas and new year with the motorhome club and have a three VW rallies booked so far !. 2 in the UK and a big one in Chimay, Belgium in June, this rally is at the end of our 5-6 week tour of Holland, Germany,Denmark, Sweden, Czech Repulic, Luxembourg, then Belgium for the VW rally.
Usually go to Spain so this is a big change for us but we are looking forward it very much.
Any advice re must see/do places or routes would be much appreciated and any/all messages will be replied too.
We both thank you in advance.
Tom & Jen
