My partner and I love caravaning and it is our chance to get away and have a holiday. We often go away with friends and enjoy a laugh and a drink. But it seems that the sandal and socks brigade are out to put a dampner on anyone having a good time. We are not offensive and treat everyone with the same respect. Our advice is this: get out more and enjoy life without worrying about what others are doing. You only have one life, so have fun (you never know, you might just like it). No wonder we are known as the whinging poms!! Caravaning is rapidly becoming more popular with younger people, so looks like you will just have to get used to it.

Colin (from another Colin) if we ever meet on site invite me along to your friendly evening gathering - I will bring my own bottle of whisky and be willing to share it. Might even have a few cigars with me if any one should partake. You are right in that too many people nowadays cannot enjoy themselves whilst on holiday. Why not relax and let your hair down a bit. As long as it is not rowdy and blasphemous good luck.

Basically, at the end of the day there are two types of nightmare caravanners y'know.

Type 1 has no comprehension of social etiquette, they disco till the early hours and their kids use your caravan as goal posts, their dogs yap and bark constantly and neither know nor care that their behaviour upsets others.

Type 2 neither drinks, smokes, smiles, talks to anyone (unless they are complaining)or has a good word for anyone, they scowl at your children and pets for daring to walk within half a mile of their pitch and complain about the loud shirt on your back.

Type 1's seem to thrive on the commercial sites and I assume type 2's do too, they could use adult only sites but they'd have nowt t' whinge about!!

That leaves the rest of us somewhere in the middle, personally I look forward to getting pitched next to people that we can ask/be asked over for a drink.

I think its important to remember that we all relax in different ways and we need to be tolerent of other people, i dont mind noise from other vans as long as it ends or quietens down at a reasonable time, i am sure there are times when the noise of our crying baby has caused irritation to others.

I have more of an issue with kids running round my van, i have no tolerence for that. (and transits and people who dont clean up after their dogs)

No problem with 11/1130 ish after that I do get a little worked up over noise. Babies crying anytime it's OK they don't know any better.

By the way I normaly have a bottle of Blue or Gold label in the van. You can either drink it with me and be social, or if you want to be noisy after 1130 you can be hit over the head with it!!!!!!!!!!

Colin that's the first time Iv'e seen a a " Hey Jimmy " claiming to be a celt. !!!!!!!!!

Did you go down to Corby ???
