Nissan Navara

Hi
Can anyone say how good / bad a Nissan Navara is as a tow car? Looking at the possibility of either a Navara or Sorento.

Any help is much appreciated.

Jon

The Navara suffers with serous engine problems, bottom ends knocked out, timing cases cracking leading to water problems.Bit strange really but dont hear anything bad about the sorries.

Cant say i have ever heard of any problems with the Navara lately??
I believe he is talking about the D22 engine that was causing issues in the 2002 - 2005 models.
A few friends have them as work vehicles one tows and one has clocked up 120,000 in 3 years. None have had any issues only a recall for alloy wheels that may crack?
The ones who tows gets around 18mpg with a twin axle, but tows very well with no issues, he likes it so much he has just ordered a new one.

I drive 1 of two 3 litre (7speed auto) Navara Double Cabs for some jobs, the latest pair have been fitted with the latest Dixon Bate shocklink tow hitch and truckman top. I towed a heavy laden car trailer through snow and ice from Stockholm last winter and it was a surprisinglly easy and pleasant experience. Also delivered an Aistream caravan to southern Portugal in April.
The V6 is a country mile ahead of the 2.5 litre in refinement when driving solo or towing and the company had problems with the older 2.5 4 or 5 years ago. one of the works truck drivers regrets getting a 2010 2.5 for towing a large folder caravan after driving the work 3 litre.

I. Used to have a 2007 Nissan navara had it until 2010 only towed my caravan a few times with it as it a company car but used to tow a large plant trailer with it daily when it was sold it had 194 k on clock and was still going strong

So far so good with the Navara, just got to watch your speed, as they tow so easily.
Watch your towball as mine needs a spacer really with the Alko hitch.
Enjoy, they are great!!
