Nissan Terrano 2 / Ford maverick 2.7 td

Does anyone have any comments (good or bad) about Nissan Terrano 2 / Ford maverick 2.7 td?

I know the kerbweight, max tow weight, torque, & bhp, but fuel consumption and reliability are what i would like to know.

It`ll be pulling 1050kg max.

Thanks in advance.

Well, we have a Ford Maverick TD 2.7GLS (1997). It's a very comfy car to drive. We've had it just about a year and it does roughly 27-30 mpg solo and abou 20-23 mpg with the van on (we tow approx 1250kg). I haven't come across any problems so far except for the replacement ignition we need - but that could go on any car! I find it very reliable and so far (touch wood) it hasn't let us down. It is reasonable on the insurance (group 12 I think, would have to check), and so far have bought two tyres which cost

I used to tow a twin axle van approx 1850kg with a 2004 Teranno 2.7. It pulled great and was very stable with enough power to maintain the max speed limit and up to 70mph in France. It pulled in 5th gear happily but needed a change down to 4th and sometimes 3rd on steep long hills.

Mine also needed a new ignition switch - a dealer told me that the switch is a known weak point. I had it from new and kept it for 30 months and 29,000 miles with no problems other than a few teething troubles which were so minor I can't remember what they were..Oh yes, the passenger front window needed a bit of a tug sometimes to get it to shut but was fixed under warranty by adjusting the runners.

One moan is that it needed to be serviced every 6 months / 6,000 miles which in modern terms is a bit excessive and expensive.

Overall, I would recommend the Teranno.
