How does the Terrano rate, for towing, and reliability.

I know they are a bit dated, but there are some really good deals about at the moment. Expensive to run?

After a string of cars I bought a Terano 2.7 6 months ago - its the best thing I have ever towed with - OK it sounds like a tractor when cold but 6000 towing miles under the belt I cannot fault it for stability or driver comfort. For the price - the best all round.

Hi this is my second Terrano and i can honestly say you have made the correct chioce. I have three children, dog and a twin axle 26.1ft caravan. My 2.7td Terrano tows like a dream, loads of power even with all the kids bikes, toys and wife`s clothes and makeup bag. No its not very economical but what 4x4 is when towing.

I bought a 3.0 diesel sport 5 door model in the summer. Haven't looked back. Really pleased with it and would buy again. We tow an Eldis Avante 505 and have kids, dog, bikes etc etc.

Bill, we had one. 9+years, 98000+ miles at 50% towing,33 - 34 mpg overall. Engine loosened up beautifully after about 10000. We had the (apparently) 'known about' gearbox fault on early models but that was all. Enjoy, Peter T

I HAVE 3.0 LITRE LWB AND IT IS JUST AN AMAZING TOWCAR WENT TO FRANCE LAST YEAR WITH NO PROBS LOADS OF SPACE GOOD STABLE TOWCAR PLENTY OF POWER WITH GOOD FUEL CONSUPTION.

Excellent choice, I`m on my second Terrano and tow a Conqueror 650 fully loaded no problem, 3.0 gutsy but extra power well worth it.

I agree with all of the above comments, I have a 53 plate 2.7tdi it tows a large van perfectly and does not struggle on inclines. Only one comment, the ammount of exhaust filth it chucks out onto the front of the caravan is alarminging-it needs to be washed immeadiatly upon site arrival, comments invited please.

I have had various tow cars, I had a 2.7 TD ford maverick which is a badged terrano and i have just replaced it with a 3 litre terrano. Both cars are exelent tow cars. I tow a twin axle and on a trip to the cotswould got 25 MPG from the 3 litre
