no 12v in back at all

When I pulled up in obidos portugal none of the lights would turn on, water pump heater extractor fan etc would all gone, there is 12v coming out the battery n all the fuses are good? any ideas?

You dont say what the model or year the van is. Some vans have a rocker switch to switch from car to van (and sometimes isolate the 12v) ,the switch is usualy on the control panel, make sure it is set to van, next you should have switches on the control panel for various 12v items (lights, pump etc) make sure again that these are on.

Is your Car/Van switch at "Van", and also, do you have a master-switch just inside the door? Both easy to overlook after a long trip.

Uf its a caravan and the ignition in the car was on it could have been working as designed in that the habitation relay in the caravan is meant to switch off all the van interior 12V except the fridge

It could also be the habitation relay doing its job if the relay in the car was stuck on even with the ignition off

If it all worked after unplugging from the car it looks like the the habitation relay IS at the root of the problem
