No BBC on satellite

I have recently bought a satellite dish which I use with a

new(ish) Sky box and Sky card. I can get perfect reception for all channels except for any of the BBC ones. Can anyone offer advice please.

Thanks.

You must be slightly off of the satellite - there is no reason I can think off where this might otherwise happen.

Try selecting a BBC channel before fine tuning the dish.

BBC are usually the strongest channels and they appear on Vertical and Horizontal polarisations on different transponders on both Astra2 and Eurobird (virtually the same bearing).

One other slight possibility - Sky choose your local channels for you and the other regional channels will not appear on your programme list - you could try another region using the Sky help menu.

I have done it but can not remember how.

Just to clarify that last point.

I am not suggesting that you will not be able to get your own region elsewhere, I just think the dish is slightly off and may pick up another region a bit easier.

Eric.

Are you using a Multimo dish? I had the same problem and found that the LNB on the dish had been moved slightly.

Looking at the dish from its rear, the connection to the LNB should be between vertical (6 o'clock) and 5 o'clock.

Hope this helps.

Garry I am surprised that you got a better result with the 0.6 LNB as the smaller the number the better it should be

A 0.3 should be better than a 0.6 and it costs a lot more

I wonder if you had a duff 0.3

You should get perfect reception of BBC1 etc without a card

Try altering the skew angle and direction as has been suggested

If the box has been unused for a while it may take some time to recover all channels

Thanks to you all for your advice......going to the Dales for the weekend and will bear it all in mind. If the worst comes to the worst, I suppose I could walk round the site and look into the other vans to see whats on......ONLY JOKING!!!!!

John

You are right, I was going from memory.

I changed from 0.6dB to 0.3dB on my suitcase kit and there was a very noticeable improvement in ease of setting up and signal strength/quality.

Apologies if I misled anyone.
