No Green light on 3002 Trumatic heater

Hi All
New here and would like some help.
I have 2006 Swift Challenger 530, just noticed that I have no green light on the control Dial. Not that we need heat right now but off to lakes in the Autumn… All fuses ok on the mains and can’t locate a fused spur any where, there is a spur under the cooker in the pan storage but not fused… It’s the Trumatic ultra heat S3002 system.
I guess it must be a new pcb board unless I’m missing something else to try before buying a costly board!

Might be a Broken light!

I suggest it needs someone with sufficient electrical knowledge to do a diagnostic and locate the fault.

There’s no power to the heater so sadly not just a broken light, just thought I’d check if there is a fuse to this before I called in the pro’s.

Hi welcome to the forum, I never had a challenger but have had the same heating and have always had a switched spur to isolate 240v you could try following the wiring from PCB box to find isolator.
 
The appliance you have is an Ultraheat, the S3002 refers only to the gas heater.

The Ultraheat takes its power direct from the main distribution unit, through a secondary fused switch near the fire, or on a dedicated panel depending on the power distribution system of the van, not all do have them, and to the PCB which is where the 12v that operates the green and red light is taken from a transformer/rectifier.

As the Ultraheat is located on the back of the gas fire it usually means taking the whole fire unit out to get to the control box of the Ultraheat, which in turn means disturbing gas unions and flue seal, which will need a new one,.

Some photos would help .

Thanks for your informative reply, I can access the back by taking out a drawer above a sliding a panel out. The grey box is accessible but not sure if I can removed easily. Think I may leave to a van engineer. And there is spur but not fused.

Chris , I guess you are new to this game.
There is a lot that can be done DIY but removing the heater with no knowledge is dangerous. Carbon Monoxide ! The failure could be a number of things including a blown element. If you know how to use a multi meter you could check the power input . However best err on the side of caution and get “Damian “ in👍👍
 
I can remove the drawer above and access the back of the fire where the box(pcb) is located but I think I’ll leave well alone! I’m competent enough but not going to mess with gas side of things!

My set up but still can’t locate fused spur/separate panel. Time to get someone in….

The electric control switch for the Ultraheat is the top right switch on the box with the MCB's and should light up red when switched on.
The "fuse" is the second MCB

An important thing to remember with the other red switches is the one for the water heater (the lower right one) never turn that on until the water system has been filled, and turn it off before draining the water system.
 
The Nordelettronica units have enjoyed a checkered career! A qualified caravan engineer will be able to advise. They can be upgraded / repaired with more modern technology. The guys at Apuljack do postal upgrades.http://www.apuljackengineering.co.uk/

Switched on space heater and set the ultra heat to on, no light at all not a red light either…All else working fine, we’re in the van so all set water wise too👍

As Dusty has said, the Nord units have been a disaster, so much so it bankrupted the company who made them.

I would suggest giving Apuljack a ring and speak to them.

They are the very best at diagnosing problems with these units and offer a repair to better than new , and are very fast in returning your items.

Also I’ve contacted Apuljack and they are going to check and upgrade my Nord consumer unit as this is the best option because I can’t swap it for a better unit.

I have one of their revised smart units. Parksy on here had his Nord refurbed with hi tech bits a few years ago on the way to a Woosiefest. These are very clever guys👍👍👍
