I just can't get into Xmas, brought the tree and decorations down from the loft, now they are sitting in the spare room. It will just be me and other half on the day, I like it like that, no hassle. Anyone else the same? Or am I the only gringe on here.

Each to their own and do whatever is best for you. Our tree is outside having been trimmed and will be indoors within the hour. Then granddaughter will come around and decorate it after doing her other Nan's tree too. Outside lights are rivalling Bristol landing approach lights. On Christmas Day we have nine for lunch and the grandkids are cooking lunch. Prior to that my grandson and I take the dogs out to a field with a shelter and will take our Leicestershire breakfast with us for a picnic. Presents get opened after the Kings Speech, or when I wake up after lunch!

Not by choice but this year we will be by ourselves.
Have been "there" many times before but did last year enjoy camping with friends, issues with mover tie us from re running that this Christmas.
Family live far away, one on another continent, so no opportunity there. Encouraging children and grandchildren to "go for life's opportunities", has that way of biting you back.

The daughter is off to Thailand for Christmas, and her two sons a daughter plus their 3 grandchildren, will be at their partners families. So we are meeting up with them beforehand to exchange presents.
We will be going to our sons with his 3 children plus grandchildren. Totalling 15, plus dogs, on the day.
I have booked for a family pub lunch on the 25th Jan for 27. So the whole family can get together. Not looking forward to that bill.

The better half retired in October (private sector heath care worker), we've not had a Christmas day together for years,I got a lift putting the tree up and all the other decoration (it's been upto me in the past).We will be having a Christmas day dinner together too,seeing the grand and great grandkids,which wasn't really possible before, usually saw them a couple of days later.
Just got back from my daughters. As she will be abroad at the big day, we had a sort of Christmas today. Just a buffet. But the kids went to town opening their presents. Just 4 plus a baby. But much noise. Lots of enjoyment, but nice to get home.

I’m not going to a Christmas meal this lunchtime as the lurgy has struck. Wouldn’t be fair on the others or folks in the pub. Pity as the six of us have been going out all together for 49 years now.
PS breaking news. Two of our other friends have just rang and they are bug ridden too. So all six of us will now reschedule for Burns Night. Glad it has hit before Christmas.

Don’t want to upset you Clive. We have had the K flu for 9 days now and are still not 100%
Plenty of Night Nurse and a few stiff Malts help. A very nasty strain this one. Hope you don’t suffer too much. Stay warm and hydrated.

Talk about "No Mojo" but I want to let the forum know: There were three periods during this year where my absence from the forum was noted, This was becasue I was having Gallbladder problems, which was removed in May with complications. Unfortunately I continued to have problems, which has resulted in a diagnosis two weeks ago of pancreatic cancer. I am being assessed for surgical removal, which means I'll likely be absent from the forum for periods in the near future. Add to the pot, losing my wife and her sister in 2024, My own sister in May and a close friend in Sept 2025 and another just last week.
The Queen had her Annus Horribilis in1992 it seems it's been mine this year.

Thanks Dusty, not upset in the slightest, I think mine must have been a nasty cold as it’s pretty well cleared up now.
However our daughter is now entering her second week on sick leave. What a palaver in seeking medical help. Her GP appointments were full, so she rang 111 and after a long Q&A session was told she should have antibiotics but in Wiltshire the prescriber doesn’t come on duty until 1700 unlike other areas. 111 advised her to attend A&E which I thought was intended to be a last resort, especially given the current situation in A&Es. In the end 111 found her an advanced paramedic who could prescribe.

Also Clive don"t want to upset you but mine lasted four weeks with a variety symptoms , and I hope your daughter is soon well.
Beachball why should I be upset in not having the flu strain that has affected Dusty and yourself. I’ve had flu once and like Dusty I became addicted to Night Nurse and a tot. I hope you both you and Dusty recover without too much delay and don’t forget you will probably feel quite debilitated for a while afterwards.

I am looking for the positives, and presently my hopes rest on the fact my local hospital sees it worthwhile referring me to the regional center at the Birmingham QE for surgery.
As you may have noticed, I tend to take a factual approach to matters, and whilst my news is worrying, and it has affected me negatively, I take the view that crying over this spilt milk has no practical benefit. I am looking for the positives, and presently my hopes rest on the fact my local hospital sees it worthwhile referring me to the regional center at the Birmingham QE for surgery.
