My Hubby, dog and myself have 8 weeks to spend in Europe and would like to travel from Calais across Northern and Eastern Germany so would be grateful if anyone could suggest an interesting circular route preferable using CC or ACSI sites. We enjoy scenery also interesting/quaint towns or villages and a bonus would be a village in walking distance of the site.We enjoyed our visit to Southern Germany so would like to explore pastures new! All info gratefully received.

I can recommend the Mecklenburg Lake District, north of Berlin. The landscape has some similarity with the Norfolk Broads, but it's bigger. A couple of years ago we stayed at a pretty campsite, Pappelbucht, in Rövel. It is an ACSI site.

Another nice area is the Spree Forest, south east of Berlin. Although it is a real forest a lot of waterways criss-cross the region.
We stayed at Spreewald Camping in Lübben, also an ACSI site:

Both sites are close enough to allow a day trip into Berlin.

Quite a few of the german sites we have stayed have been in or on the outskirts of small towns and within walking or cycling distance. Berlin is well worth a visit as is Dresden. I have a couple of Blogs on my website we detaisl of our trips to Germany. We are hoping to visit the Baltic coast this year although there are a few issues potentually standing in our way at the moment.
