Northern Ireland Forest Service annual permit

Calling all fellow Northern Irelanders! Have any of you heard of the scheme run by the Forest Service which allows free (unlimited) access to their caravan sites after an initial annual payment of £100. I think its called a Special Events Permit. Anyone any further info regarding this? Emmy

Hi Emmy,

Haven't heard from you in ages hope you had a good season.

Heres the info you are looking for,the scheme is called Touring in the Trees and consists of 11 sites in various forests around N.I.

Hi Emmy, when we stayed at Gosford the couple next to us told us about this scheme, Gosford has a site for this think its called Tall Trees, we went for a walk to look round it, it looks very peaceful but as stephen said very basic but with the caravans now adays it wouldn't be a problem. We had thought of joining but the couple we tour with have a hobby (no battery)don't know if generators would be allowed on these sites.

Good luck with your search. Jennifer

Hi Emmy, have just joined the forum and "wee stevie" gave me a welcome which included a Nth. Ireland link, noticed you were interested in Touring in the Trees? of which I was a member for approx. ten years and during this time visited most of their sites(plus have a contact in the forestry dept. (Stormont House) from where the annual permits are issued. If their are any questions you need answered just ask me. I am from Jordanstown Co. Antrim. Where is yor bit of Ireland. Cheers, Brian.

Hi Brian. Nice to hear from another local. I'm in Portrush, a place which everyone knows!

Haven't applied for the permit yet, but will probably go ahead and get one, if i can get over the fear of no hook-up!
