Northumberland recommendations please

Hi,
Looking for a site, firmly believe in personal recommendations rather than websites, for somewhere in Northumberland. Criteria: Not too big and not too small. Near the coast. Happy with a site bar but don’t want a ‘banging till the small hours’ disco. Dog friendly.
Looking at >end of school hols in Sept.
Many thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi Mark, this place is good , only down point, is there is no on site bar, a 20 minute walk into Belford 3 pubs are ok. Not far from Sea houses.

South Meadows is a superb site. No views but super clean and FSP. 100 yards is. a Licensed Farm shop serving great food and bottled Alnwick beer. The pubs in Belford are average. For views just up the road is this place. Not FSP but waking up to see the sun rise over Lindisfarne, Holy Island.

We did use Southmeadows before the pandemic and are going again later this year so can confirm it is a good choice. Next to the A1 but we had no problem with noise, this makes getting anywhere local that much better.

A view of Lindisfarne from a pitch at The Barn Beal

Has no one got any other sites further inland that they have been too. We would also like some recomendations.

The Bothy Bar will take you no more than 45 seconds from your pitch. Next door is the cafe/ restaurant also fully licensed open all day. Have a good read of the website
We haven’t stayed on the campsite but have visited the restaurant a few times on our way back from Lindisfarne. The food is very good quality especially the seafood, and if the weather is good sitting out on the terrace looking out over the island is a real treat.

We have stopped at Chain bridge touring caravan site a quiet country park got electric hookup water to all pitches, toilets showers (under floor heating ) Guests have the use of a common room riverside dog walks
The Fishers Arms about 10 min walk

Might sound boring to you guys but we always stay at the CAMC site at Powburn. We prefer no frills sites and you always know what you get on the CMAC sites. We only use it as a base anyway just for exploring the area.

We like “boredom” too, and have always found the sites from either club to be fine. As you we tended to consider the van as a base for exploring the area.
