Northumberland suggestions

We are looking to take a trip to Northumberland for the first time at the end of July and are looking for recommendations for sites please. We have 2 teenagers on board and ideally a site with somewhere to kick a ball around and a little shop would be ideal. We aren't in to big commercial sites and somewhere near the coast would be perfect. Any suggestions please?

Stayed for a week in 2015 at River Breamish Caravan Club site, a short distance off A697 near Powburn. Liked the area so much that we went back in 2016 for 2 weeks. There is a large grass area for kick-a-bouts and the site has the usual CC shop. Petrol Station/convenience store is about half a mile in Powburn. Nearest supermarket would be Alnwick which is 10 miles. Depends how near the coast you want to be - easy drive to Berwick, Holy Island, Banborough, Alnmouth.

I don't want to be a killjoy, but two teenagers kicking a ball around would not make for good relations on any campsite!
Northumberland is a beautiful county, but at that time of year it has some of the most voracious midges known to man, so take plenty of Avon Skin so Soft!

In fairness to the op he stated 'somewhere to kick a ball around'. Dont think he meant using your van as a goalpost. Mind you never know.

htt*://springhill-farm.co.uk/caravan-camping-site/, stayed there last June
very handy for all the Northeast Coast, and also for Historic Inland Attractions
small site very friendly and lovely staff, read my review on Trip Advisor...
going back again end of April....

Try dunstan hill cc and c site. nice and big not far to shops and you can walk to the sea. Make sure you go to Craster, a lovely place a the smoked fishery is great. Lovely coast walks and big beaches.

For peace and quie then the CAMC site at Nunnykirk takes some beating. No toilet block though just a site in the middle of nowhere for rest and relaxation although within reasonable distance of most things in the area.,
