My car has a 100kg nose weight is it best to get the nose weight of caravan as close to this as possible?

Quick answer is yes.

Although if you have a very light 'van it may not be possible.

Generally the outfit's stability increases with the noseweight, provided you don't exceed the maximum for the car or hitch.
