The following year we went to the Jura.

The itineraries and routes made up booklets and I copied for each outfit, All pre sat nav. It worked well for most of the time. We had completely forgot about the snail holes in the page which happened on the banks of the Mohnesse dam reseviour.

Good days.

I have been transferring 126 and 35 mm negatives to the computer then into Photos. Have come across quite a lot that did not make it into our photo albums. Go back to mid 1960s. Here’s one of my second car when a student in Cardiff. In parallel I’ve virtually cleared the loft, and given the kids legacy rights over the iCloud storage. It’s quiet satisfying as well as being nostalgic.

At uni my lecturer had an Imperial complete with cocktail and drinks cabinet in the back. Lovely cars those Humbers.

Yes it’s a Hawk. We used it for trips all over Wales and sometimes camped out and slept in the car.
My friends Dad had the Hawk around 1964. I remember going to a garage with my friend to get fuel. We were 20 mins with much help trying to find where the petrol cap was. Then someone came in and unscrewed the reflector in the rear light cluster.

I know what you mean. When I was at work, I got the photography department to transfer some slides.

Then, about 8 years ago, I spent an about a month transferring videos. Old super 8 had already been transferred to VHS by my brother in the college he taught at. I then bought some digitising software and digitised the VHS and a couple of small video formats.

Then I processed it all using free editing software. I finished with about 60 separate films which equals about 5 hours.

Very satisfying and I am pleased that the family has easy access it all from a shared cloud.

The few Pontiacs I drove all had great big V 8 engines and definitely nto a piddling 283cc engine. The Mk11 was a great big tank on wheels with fuel tanks either side. The Jag that my dad had came with a cocktail cabinet in the rear with decanter and glasses. Can't remember the designation.

Besides the Landrovers and horses we used these were our other company cars;

That Rover bought back some memories for me.....my uncle had one.....gorgeous car.

Steve
I had three off them, a 3 litre saloon, then a 3.5 saloon and a 3.5 coupe. Lovely car but thirsty, on 5 star fuel. Hand book stated if cruising above 100mph " Increase tyre pressures" you could see the fuel gauge go down. 135 mph @ 5000 rpm. Not bad for a 2 ton car era 1975.

Big engines, by European standards, weren't designed with fuel economy in mind - for a while I had a '85 Vauxhall Senator 3.0 - towing fuel consumption was 14 mpg and the fuel gauge bars dropped with alarming speed on the digital display.

Four of us hired its successor, a P6 3.5 litre when it first came out. Took it on the M4 from Cardiff to London and back. The fuel costs hit our grants quite hard but a fabulous car.

Which Rover had the V8 engine? The Van Den Plas version had all the boys toys in it.
