Just got in from work, been on the road since 5.am. I am tired and just a little fed up and i have the same to look forward to tomorrow.

My wife tells me that some little nomark has been using foul language and abusive remarks under her name, also aiming his/her insults at her.

Perhaps T$*T would like to meet me face to face to talk about it. I don't post often but i do visit daily. But reading various posts and how insulting they can be i am thinking of selling our caravan. If this is the calibre of caravaners, I want no part of it.

I would like to thank all the people who defended my wife last night.

Navman - I logged on yesterday after two weeks in France and saw some very bad comments posted by what appeared to be a troll using your wife's name. However today there is a posting from the moderater regarding the offencive postings which have been removed and the account has been stopped. Therefore hopefully your wife will not be having further rude/offencive comments posted either about or to her by this individual. As an open forum it is very hard to police but the mods are doing their very best in stopping these infiltraters. I can assure you that from over 38 years of caravan experience I have only once come across an offensive person on site (unfortunately she was from Wales). I would suggest that you do not sell the van but enjoy the van and the company of fellow (sorry ladies) caravanners who on the whole are decent God fearing individuals who are generally very friendly and cooperative.

Navman, last night a Troll registered on the site and did post some offensive postings.

These were removed as soon as I was aware of them and the account of that person was disabled.

There was no way of finding out who it actually was, as it was an AOL address, which was false as well.

To make a comment labelling caravanners as a whole group as being the reason for thinking of selling your van is rather an extreme reaction.

Whilst I agree that in some topics some postings are rather heated and can resort to personal attacks , these are dealt with as soon as any of the Mod team are aware of them.

Until Haymarket provide a decent , secure site where multiple registrations can be stopped, and Trolls can be denied access, we will have incidents from time to time, for which we, as Mods, apolgise, and can assure you that we are just as frustrated as everyone else.

Please don't take it personally and please ask your wife not to take it personally too. The trolls who visit from time to time are just sad losers, it's usually best to just ignore them. The mods always see their childish posts and remove them.

I doubt very very much if anyone of these trolls are actually caravanners, more likely to be from the anti brigade.

Was it Diane who was the subject of the attacks?

Hmmmmmm, I would have thought Diane was more than capable of looking after herself but what is even more confusing is to sell the caravan because of what happened. Surely the easiest option would be to stop logging into this site. Sorry but I find the post a little bit suspicious.

Well I could be wrong Rioja and if I am I apologise to Navman. I did see the troll and the language used but I never responded because it is like oxygen to them. To sell the caravan though does seem to be taking desperate measures.

Don't mind Ade every one, he was just really annoyed. He is a bit fed up with all the Anti 4x4 stuff he hears on here.

The selling the caravan is down to the last two sites we visited not being very friendly aswell.

LB. Yes i can look after myself, but Ade is just a bit old fashioned about this stuff and thinks all ladies should be treated with respect. Lord, i never let him near where i work.

Dianne I agree with you - it may be old fashion but I believe that a lady should be treated as such and all respect should be shown to her. There was an article on TV last night regarding manners and standing up on a bus for a pregnant woman to sit down. Apparantly this type of respect has long died out. Holding a door open, carrying shopping bags, walking on the outside on a pavement, etc. has all disappeared. The addage of equal rights for women has to a certain point backfired - whilst I agree with equal rights I also agree with respect.

Ahhhh ok Diane. I have to agree with your hubby, I've never used real bad language in front of my wife or family. It probably stems from the fact that none of my family, and and don't just mean my immediate family, used bad language. They and myself do use the milder cuss words though :O)

It saddened me though when going into peoples homes with my job and hearing parents and children effin' and blindin' as soon as they can talk.

Apologies to your hubby but as you can see his selling the caravan comment made some of us think another troll was at work.

Maybe selling the caravan was a bit over the top as i really enjoy using it. The only way i would sell it is to buy the new Swift Conqueror 630.
