Your above post indicates that respected scientists don't have a clue? However if you choose to believe that is a myth that is your choice, however I wonder why aeroplanes needs to avoid areas around volcanoes if there is no pollution and that their engines will not be destroyed if the enter a cloud of volcanic ash?
Not sure how you came to the 1st conclusion. On the 2nd, yes volcanos spew rock and ash into the atmosphere. Engines dont run well on ash or rock. This has nothing to do with relative CO2 emissions of volcanos and the human population.

The thread was started about people losing their jobs at Luton in April next year, but FD has morphed it into an end, less discussion about the myths etc of EVs once again.

Surely if you wish to have the never ending discussion on EVs, why don't you start your own threads after researching Google etc for proper facts!

I’d agree that a bit of research on the net would certainly quell some of the more inaccurate comments.

Absolutely as even good old common sense would tell you a lot about even the basics without even having to research, but people prefer to wear rose tinted specs and ignore scientific findings.

However as said the thread was started about people losing their jobs and then the thread lost its way once again with FD becoming very active!

Mike Hawes, the SMMT's chief executive, said the UK's ZEV mandate had forced companies into offering “unsustainable” discounts on electric cars last year. Money for further price cuts in 2025 will be more thinly spread, as a result of separate costly net zero rules coming into force across Europe.

All the major newspapers this morning rags and broad sheets are explaining the serious damage to the U.K. car industry .

It seems the Zero Emissions Vehicle Mandate has / will result in all manufacturers paying a fine of £15k per ICE vehicle sold above HMG’s allowed quota. Most makers to avoid this draconian penalty have been substantially reducing the EV price in an effort to improve sales. The knock on is the alleged reduction in EV used values and reduction in Manufacturers profit margin. Indeed we have seen already closures of vehicle making plants in the U.K.

From what I read the general consensus is the ideology of all EV new cars by 2030 will be an economic disaster. Judge for yourselves from all the excellent articles on line today.

At least the Government have now started to take steps to try and resolve the difficulties in relation to the quota-fine system intended to encourage the sales of electric cars. So I’m confident some compromise will result. But it just goes to show the problems that can be created for businesses when governments chop and change strategy just to pander to electors.

Can I remind everyone of the “ no politics” rule. I have edited and deleted comments where politicians are named, however obliquely.
Thank you
Mel
I was being polite using a corrupted name as every newspaper in the country uses the correct name when slagging off the person in question. Also the comment had nothing to do with politics but was to do with legilsation and I was not aware that it was against forum rules to comment on legilsation. However I will abide with your decision.

I thought we were not allowed to discuss politics on this forum or are you the exception?
