We stopped using CC sites several years ago. Just for a change I thought we would try the Tewkesbury Caravan Club site for the weekend. We arrived there Thursday afternoon no issue. Friday morning enjoying the bliss and peace when all of a sudden there was this ear piercing row.

On checking it was the warden on his little mobile ride on lawnmower cuting the grass on a pitch nearby that had been vacated moments before. Every time a pitch was vacted he was back with this darn lawnmower to cut the grass which to be honest did not look like it was in need of a cut. Eventually we left for the day.

Saturday lovely and quiet as no caravans leaving. Sunday he was out with his infernal machine again cutting the grass from 9:30 am onwards every time some one left! Now I know grass grows but not at the rate of an inch or six overnight. Then the bloody church bells started and never stopped. So between the warden and the clergy our restfull weekend disappeared.

We packed up and left the site before 12pm and were home to peace and serenity by 1pm. From now on definitely sticking to CLs etc.

Probably would have been more peaceful on a rip roaring drunken rally! :)

Whenever l have been on site and they have cut the grass it's taken no longer than a couple of minutes, what's the problem with that. It would only be cut once in one week or maybe 2 depending on the length of stay, best they do it straight away than forget. Keep up the good work Wardens you do an excellent job.

I'd prefer to hear the sound of mowers on a site, than turning up and finding long grass on my pitch. At this time of year the grass grows very quickly, and I expect the wardens have to cut it when they can. I would object more if they drove round each week and asked me to take my awning down, and move my caravan so they could cut the grass!

I thought the British were supposed to have a sense of humour. Obviously not on this forum because my post was written very much tongue in the cheek which is why there was smiley at the end of it!

Ian has as much right to express his opinion on the forum as anyone else.

There will be others who disagree with him and they are at liberty to say so because that forms the basis of a discussion or debate.

The header note at the top of this General forum page reads

'Express your views and let off steam about general caravanning issues' so to instruct a forum member to 'keep his comments to himself' rather misses the point.

Tewkesbury Abbey caravan Club site is a large site ,all grass no hardstandings. It is also one of the more "in transit" caravan club sites used by members in many cases for a one or two night stopover, due to it being so close to the M5. Due to it being all grass and the way the site is used the warden has to cut the grass as and when pitches are vacated.Over many years the various wardens at Tewkesbury Abbey site have done a wonderful job.

One of the main reasons we go to the site is because of the Abbey. They have some excellent concerts throughout the year, see the Abbey web site, and the bell ringing is top notch and oh so relaxing.

Unbelievable:

Who would have thought that grass grew on Caravan sites?

God, there are a lot of moaners and whingers going caravanning these days.

If you don't like the sites, go and stay in a bloody hotel!
