Nutty names

Whilst browsing through some back issues of PCv magazines that someone kindly gave me, I noticed how many people have names for their caravans. I particularly liked the article about 'Holly', a classic caravan someone had bought at Christmas time, for restoration (What a beautiful job they did with it, too!)

Anyway, that got me thinking.... I've already got a name for my car. It's called Gettin. Couldn't be anything else, the number of times I've opened the tailgate for the dog and said 'Get in the car!' I thought the Gobur would be an easy job to Christen. Being a Carousel, the first thing that came to mind was 'Roundabout', but as I didn't want to name it after a traffic island I decided to ponder the subject in greater depth. I still haven't come up with anything suitable.

How many Forumites go in for personalising their outfits? My ex husband was a particular fan of alliteratives, so I had to put up with my two previous 'vans being called 'Freda the Leda' (an Avondale) and, even more nauseating, 'Elfreda the Elddis' I know. Bleurgh!

So, folks, during these cold, dark & wet evenings you can post in and tell us your own embarrassing secret! (Or maybe just the name of your unit will do....!) Can't wait to see what this thread harvests!

My o/h calls the caravan 'Big Girl' and we usually name our cars using a mix of the registration letters.
My 4x4 has the letters JJU so it's 'JuJu', and the little runabout has ZNY so it's 'Zany'.
My previous 4x4 which we had for 7 years and was much loved had the letters 'BOL' and when we bought it it seemed quite LUXurious.
It had nice alloys and a good paint job, we thought it was the bees knees but sticking to our habit of naming after the registration letters I'll leave you to work out it's name.

When the T fell off by Sunbeam Talbot it was called Albert for obvious reasons. Years later when I bought a Lada run around for Mrs Chrisbee I deliberately removed the "L" from the badge. :p

What a great thread! When my colleague Stacie took the Adria Adora to France earlier this year (see the cover story of our December 2014 magazine on sale now – what luck!), her young daughter couldn't say 'Adora' so the caravan was known as Dora.

Do keep your tales coming. You never know, we could publish them in the magazine!

We used to have a Ford Escort camper van. It was called Wendy, cos it was a little house...............!
Herself says our Royale Rangemaster is too grand to have a common name, so she is called Forty-Two.(reasons why to be written on the back of a £10 note and sent c/o the home for the bewildered)
The sat-nav is Sadie. Mostly.

Must confess one or two of my vans over the years have been classified as 'illegitimate', as they could be regularly heard being called "you b.....d" !!!!!!
