Obernai is a lovely site. We have stayed for single nights on the way to Italy in the past. We liked the site so this year we stayed for 8 days. It's a very friendly site, well kept, clean and realxing. It's a 10 minute stroll into Obernai centre but there is a bus outside the site if you would prefer not to walk. Obernai is a charming town surrounded by vineyards. The surrounding area is worth exploring; Strasbourg and its canals is a must do.We didn't do all that we wanted to so one day we'll have to go back!

We stayed there overnight a couple of years ago. Nice enough site but not sure I would stay longer than a few days. As Bernadette says it is a very convenient stroll into the town and it is a nice town. I have some pictures here Obernai Here is another site to think about in that area Colmar

Obernai is in our book as one of the better sites in Europe. We have never stayed on any site more than about 6 nights until we stayed there - which turned out to be 10 until Management found that if you stay 10 nights you get an extra night free. The office is closed 12h-14h.

Both staff, Annie and (IMSMC) Caroline speak good English, in fact in her younger years Annie (who is the resident manager) was an English teaching student at Dudley Grammar School so she not only speaks goo English she swears in English as well!

They will tell you that TV reception on site is poor so the MH pitches and some of the nearby caravan pitches have TV feed. Whta they mean is you can't get French TV but German TV knocks the needle of the signal meter off the clock. They seem genuinely surprised however if you ask them about it as thet expect most people to carry satellite (Sky works well on a 60cm dish.)

Reception has (had) Internet at _2/hour in 15min units. They also sell some locally produced wines from the fridge (a very good Sylvaner springs to mind) starting at less than _5 a bottle. There is a wine producer tasting/sales place only three minutes walk from the gate - try the Cremant (fizzy) versions of the local wine, very acceptable and not expensive. There is a Super supermarket on the site side of the town centre, and an Atac (Auchan owned) with fuel station a few hundred metres along the road from the railway station on the far side. The latter closes weekdays for lunch.

The only down side is that some of the pitches can be rather small and cramped, and because of the opposite side opening of UK and European 'van doors you may find vans very close to each other. The converse however is that many of the pitches are fully servcied: each rectangular cluster of four vans has a post in the middle with at least four cold water taps and usually four blue mains outlets, and there will be a pipe head (with aperature to take 28.5mm waste pipe) on each pitch albeit s long pipe may be needed. Not all pitches (mainly those against the fence at the far end of the site) have electricity and are usually let to tent campers.

There is plenty to do in the area. There is a castle on the Voges hills not far away (visible from the site) and (if you are interested although it is very sad) the only German Concentration Camp in France and 'La Ligne' near Colmar are worth a visit. The bugatti factory where the incredible Veyron is made is a few Km to the north. Offenbourg and Freibourg are good German shopping centres and only a short distance away across the Rhine - where it is also worth stopping to watch the huge locks on the Rhine canal in operation.

'Sunday markets' are always worth a browse in France and there are plenty in this area. They are signed as Brocante (generally considered as antiques) or Vide Grenier (litteraly 'empty attic') but both cover both types of material. Unlike UK equivalents they start early but go on often into the evening so you can get around several with much trouble.

Highly recommended.
