Aquaroll - Heated?
OK so because I am feeling strong today after 3 great sunny days I think I can withstand some expected corny comments to this question, thought, comment. Has anyone ever considered either heating the water in their "Aquaroll" or replacing it with a similar insulated vessel that can be heated...
After in the research to other topics i found this thread. Now before it went off on its rantings about Chinese quality and products it had quite a good range of ideas. I did like the maths as its better to show a working theory.
I did think it had a massive own goal with heating water and showers with low wattage equipment. Was to pre heat the water as much as possible!
Say we are off grid and we have a small or low power heating system, either gas or electric. Its irrelivent which for this idea.
Our ideal shower temp is say 40 degrees C. (thats a guide not a requirement)
If our standard aqua roll cold water is ambient say 10 degrees, we need to heat from 10C to 40C. Clever people can workout that 20 litres plus 30C temp change is so many BTU and therefore so many Watts. Fairly simple basic stuff. But why does the water have to start at 10C. There is no reason why that is.
But why has no one mentioned to simply paint the aqua roll matt black and stand it on a piece of insulation. You could further improve on that with a simple clear plastic green house type box to better pre heat the water and contain collect the solar therms.
If the water temp starts at say 15C or even 20C then its a lot less watts/BTU's to get to the same heated shower temp. Less power input but the same result.
