Hi All just joined and no doubt will be asking lots of questions 😊 we are new to caravans and we have been away couple times and all good but we want to experience the New Forest which probably needs going off grid. We have the new leisure battery how long would the leisure battery run the caravan without it being recharged and how do people go about re changing the battery and keeping it topped up
Thanks

Welcome to the forum Kevkian.

The answer is, it depends. But a decent battery used sparingly should be good for 2-3 days. A fixed or freestanding.

Something like this is a simple solution.

(There are lots of other suppliers.).

John
That was going to be my next question 😊 are they any good I bought a smaller one to charge a phone and a few assessories and to be quite honestly it was rubbish but this is more large-scale have they improved?

These work well. We have a 60W briefcase version that kept 6 of us going (including 4 kids with devices) for a week in Wales. We now have a fixed 100w on the roof, and the briefcase which makes the occasional outing with us as backup. Β£78 for the whole 100w kit is a bargain.

Note - it will (of course) only run your 12v systems, but a TV for an hour can be run on an inverter, or (possibly) direct from 12v if its a suitable TV.
Gas for fridge and cooking. Make sure those are working and you have plenty of gas before you go.

Thank you. I'll have a look for some.

There are several campsites in the New Forest with electric - you can't wild camp in the New Forest - or any other National Park.

Camping in the Forest have such sites in the New Forest. It’s a business arm of Forestry England and they have a number of sites around the country. We particularly liked Bracelands (EHU available if required) in the Forest of Dean. Been there in the caravan and solo camping too.
