Off on our travels

Captain Chaos, SWMBO and Lily the 1 yr old Cockapoo are off to Cartref site near Shrewsbury for 10 nights on Thursday so watch this space for the usual tales of mayhem and catastrophe🤣🤣🤣

Caravan serviced and cleaned ready…. Just put a few photos on the gallery and more will be added during our stay.

Thanks all.
Off early from west Oxon with a couple of planned stops along the way.
Caravan all ready for the trip - our issue is ALWAYS getting out of our close because of cars parked opposite the exit of the road ( tight right turn) and out of the village, then we are fine.

Arrived safely.
Lovely site, and when they say Hardstanding pitches, the hard part should come with a public health warning for numpties like me who dare to try to put pegs in the ground ….. me ….. I almost put my thumb in the ground twice🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Billy swollen thumb.

Glad you arrived safely,it’s hard ( no pun intended) when the sites say you need steel pegs as how many different types of pegs do you take with you .Hope your thumb heals and you can make your other half a cup of tea/coffee 😂

I generally used steel metal pegs for normal hardstandings. Plastic tent pegs for grass, and heavy duty long steel pegs made from reinforcing bars for sandy or very wet grass pitches.
Examples shown below.

I use the ones in the last photo, but the ground here is particularly hard, unlike my thumb🔨🔨🔨🤣🤣🤣👍.
Rain overnight but we are on holiday and it’s Easter weekend so par for the norm really.

Something I can’t explain to those who don’t have a caravan or motorhome/camper is the joy we get from it, even though it’s a pain to get out of the village and it takes us ages to set it up.
The places we see, the people we meet, the help you get offered on sites by people we have never met, the list goes on.

I have always travelled, lived in many countries as my dad was in the army, so exploring ( and now taking photos) is something I love to do.

Long may it continue.

I understand your view as even when I was working the very act of setting off for a weekend away pushed any thoughts of work to the back of my mind. Once set up on the pitch the weather was secondary as just being in the home from home was a real pleasure. Of course nice weather (dry) made it even more of a pleasure.

Breaking news…. A first for me…. I changed the gas bottle!
Not really used gas that much in the past but now staying on electric metered sites it’s the way to go.
Also changed the priority to gas for the heating.

Next challenge…. Tying my boot laces so they don’t keep coming undone🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Captain Chaos.
