I haven't stayed at the site, but my late father was associated with the Parish Church in Old Brampton for over 30 years, so I know the area well.
The one piece of advice I would give is NOT to go to the site up Asgate Road out of Chesterfield. It is narrow and windy and attracts people who drive too fast. Take the A619 towards Baslow and Bakewell. When you get to the top of the hill pass the turns to Wadshelf, go over the brow, and take the right turn on a crossroads where the main road curves left. At the other end turn back right towards the radio mast, over the hill, and down towards Old Brampton. The site will be on your right where the road straightens and levels out.
If it is still open the George in OB is a nice pub, as is the Fox and Goose (which you will have passed near the radio mast) at Wigley. There is a pub/steak bar type place (can't remember what it is called at this instant) further along the A619 just after where you turned off.
