Woe is me !!!! We got half way to our site for a long W/E...Still not quite sure what happened but we have a flat on the 'van and one on the rear of the x Trail(same side) The 'van did a triple salko 2x360 and ended up facing the opposite way.

LUCKILY nobody hurt !!!!! no other cars involved. 'Van looks like it's been hit by an Apache gunship. Boo Hoo...only 6 months young. Oh Well life goes on.

Bigfoot,

looking on the positive side....triple salko & 2x360 certainly cures your constipation!

But seriously glad to hear no one got hurt, if you've walked away unharmed thats a blessing!

We've just got back from the dealer, It's a total loss. We passed the site on the way and stopped to try and work out what happened. It's an absolute miracle nothing was coming the other way, If there had been I don't think we would have walked away.

Still, look on the bright side Eh! We're insured, no ones hurt and the dealer has another one in stock.

Like Arnie said "We'll be back!"

Although the outcome of two more or less simultaneous blowouts was considerable, I doubt whether Tyron bands would have helped. I had a blowout on the caravan the other week and, before I was able to come to a standstill, there was absolutely nothing left of the tyre other than its bead on the wheel rim. Even the wheel rim was already damaged beyond repair by then. As Tyron bands can do no more than restrain the tyre bead, the picture would not have been any different with Tyron bands (the tyre bead would also have still been there).

Frankly, I think Tyron bands are one of the most overrated products on the market as they offer protection only under very specific conditions. Obviously, the manufacturers make a big thing of promoting them by showing test results without pointing this out. If they were really fair, they would show a comparison of two vehicles under the same test conditions, preferably running side by side, one with, the other without Tyron bands.
