At my usual 2 yearly eye test I was referred for high pressures in 2015. My GP referred me to an eye specialist who told me that my eyes were fine and that the pressure was only marginally high. She would look again in a year. FF to 2016 and the same diagnosis. At an eye test in May 2017 for new specs there was no prob with eye pressures so went along quite happily to my annual check up at the eye clinic. Consultant tells me I have chronic open angle glaucoma and put me on medication. Advised me to tell DVLA, which I did. Dvla sent me back for field of view tests - passed with flying colours and 6/6 both eyes. Dvla have now asked me to send in my licence and will issue me with a licence subject to medical review. Not a prob as can still drive and tow up to 3500 Kg but, of course I lose the C1, D1 automatic entitlement. I know I would have lost it in 2018 when I reach 70 anyway but.....
not nice getting old is it :-(
One thing though. When I read the handy guide to licence cats ( Thanks Prof) I note that the max trailer length is 7M. My lightweight Elddis is just 5cm over that if I include the A frame. I didn't know about the trailer length restriction.....
