Location is Central Scotland towards the west

The forecast wasn't good for the west coast of Scotland so when I left I expected snow, and got lots of it, more than lots, mile after mile after mile of the white stuff. On the return journey with a 6.5m caravan hanging onto the back of the XC90 we hit a steep hill where cars, trucks and buses were stuck and it was mayhem, but the XC90 with the winter tyres took it all in its stride and plodded on up the hill leaving everything else behind...

I do not know anyone who fits winter tyres here in Scotland, In all my years here I have never even met anyone who has fitted winter tyres.
Some (very few) carry snow chains, me being one of them, never had to use them and hope I never will, a PITA to fit in the conditions that dictate you must fit them.
