omnistep on carioca 706

I have a 2010 ci caroca 2010. The omnistep does not when pressing the switch in stairwell of habitation unit. I removed unit thinking it was jammed but when i opened it up and applied a voltage to motor it drove out . on reversing connections to motor it drove back to home position. when voltage was applied again it made same clicking sound indicating it was hitting amechanichal stop. i have checked microswitch and push button switch andthey are both ok. Is there a drive unit for the omnistep and if so where is it. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for that but i have already lubricated the omnistep. The step works when set up in the garage and applying voltage but when fitted onto van and pressing switch in habitation unit it only tries to drive in. the step is fully retracted and it is hitting the mechanichal stops. I tend to think "box of tricks Arsilicii ES803" descibed in the previous post is the problem. Can anyone tell me where i can find this unit.

So it works "on the bench," but not when installed on the van?
It's going to be "trail and error" with a meter then. If you can't get the converter's wiring diagram, you'll have to trace where the connections lead to, and check each component in turn.
Unless anyone can offer a source for a CI/Carioca manual with wiring diagram?

Not the same make of van but food for investigation. I have seen this happen where the step has also been activated by the ignition switch and the cable fed to the step switch via a fuse (on examples seen fuse under drivers seat) This fuse had blown and prevented the step from operating

thanks for that but omnistep has supply to it when pressing switch to drive step out but it is trying to drive step in and has already reached its maximum travel and is hitting mechanichal stops. i have checked limit switch and it is ok.

Hi graeme - It coukd be dirt or a piece of road git in the slide rails. But disconnect the supply or pull the fuse, before you get your fingers in there.
