First off all I will get the formalities out of the way--- Welcome back and I hope you enjoyed your time away.

Right then, as you are partly responsible for me purchasing a Kampa 390 can you answer me this??

Does the pin at the front bottom attatched to the ring and webbing basically just sit up inside the actual pole and is then trapped against the ground? The instructions say "insert the pin in the pole" but there are no holes to insert it into.

It arrived today so I had to put it up and am really impressed with it, as long as I can sort the pin.

Any other response's very welcome, Thankyou

Yes it does Kev. If required you can then tension it with the adjustable straps or the adjustable legs.
Mine, like a lot of others, leaked at first until they weather but I didn't bother to wait for that. I bought an aerosol can of sealer and sprayed the seams and it's now water tight

Thank you for the welcome back but in just over a weeks time I'll be gone again for another 4 weeks. Ain't life grand

You mean I Spend all that money and they are expected to leak

Think the least you can do is forward the cost of the sealer

I did notice in another post where you commented that you were 'saving up' to buy one of these awnings. The first thought process that passed through my bonce was I'm sure he could buy one of those awnings with the loose change in his ass pocket

Actually I did think about posting the cost to you for the sealer but the thought only lasted a micro second and that, sadly for you, is all that it was, a thought

LB and Kev, did you buy the standard or the Pro model?
Our awning has seen better days and I'm seriously thinking about getting one (OH is not so keen) are they as good as they look? I don't want anything flimsy "Suncampy", how does it rate?

Hi Wendy, I have also brought the standard Kampa Rally 390, and to be honest I did'nt realise there was a pro version
smiley-embarassed.gif

I have not really got/had any thing similar to compare it to as all previous full + porch awnings have been the heavier Dorema type's.
These are no where near that quality but you get what you pay for. But on a brighter note on my last outing I got talking to a neighbour with a Suncamp 390 and against this I would definitely have the Kampa, I set it up for first time last night and as said it's simple (ish) for 1st time and it is better quality than the suncamp but around £100.00 more and the pro version I have just looked at is another £100.00 (ish)

I would expect it to last at least 8 to 10 trips a year for the next ten years but if it does'nt I will be knocking on LB's DOOR

We've got the Dorema Vitesse half awning, and quite frankly, after five years it's seen better days which is very disappointing as all the other Dorema awnings we've had, were definately of better quality, so if I buy one, and it gets five years hard use, it's going to cost me half as much (comparatively speaking).

Thanks for you feedback both of you - I'll see if I can see one in the flesh, at one of the local dealers!

Well I purchased my Kampa( the original version ) several years ago 260 model cost under £200 pounds , and it hasnt leaked once, despite all the heavy showers . I was put off the 390 model one was on display at the Norwich camping shop , the lower middle horizontal bar was bent , the previos night there had been very strong winds in the area, pointed it out to the site manager , who could not give me a answer as why the bar was bent.

I bought the standard Wendy. Looking at the info for the pro all I can see as the difference is that it's made from a tougher material than the standard. The one we have certainly feels a tougher material than the normal Sunncamps etc. which I've had in the past and I suppose this is reflected in the price compared to those others.
Apart from the adjustable front legs another plus is, due to the profile, it gives you more headroom.
An added extra which we bought are the upright poles for the buffer pad, monsoon poles which tension the roof and storm straps. Again in my opinion worth it.
As an awning it's easy to set up and in my opinion looks better than the other quick erect awnings and if I was as rich as you or Kev I'd have bought the Pro but that's life for you

To sum up I've only used ours three times so far but am more than pleased with it. The proof is in how long it lasts though.

Hi Royston, do you know if the monsoon poles were fitted, indeed even If they were availible back then ,I dont know it is just a thought. Like LB I went the whole hog and got the Rear poles, Monsoon Poles and the extra Tie down kit. So hopefully it will withstand fairly harsh weathers.

Hi Kev.
Just got back and having a swat up . glad your happy with the Kampa, I too have had mine a couple of years now and probably luck as it rained on our first trip out, we had one tiny leak but thankfully at has not leaked since., I have to say the inner poles do seem a bit flimsey in the roof but we found this due to over tightening so we tend not to go that tight . well I have to shuv off Ive got my son here and Im delaying him from his shut eye.Enjoy your Kampa

Neither did I but looking at it the Pro didn't come out until this year, after we bought ours.
I've got the 260 and the Pro version is approx. £100 dearer. There is also weight difference of 4kg so it seems as if it is a more robust version. Having said that I'm very pleased with our and it does give the impression that it will stand up to the elements better than our previous Sunncamp. What I do like about this awning is the design and how much more headroom it has over the Sunncamp.
BTW, mine leaked the first time we had rain and I'm sure that if I'd let it weather it would have stopped. I had a can of Fabsil handy and the awning was dry so decided to give the seams a squirt
