One for the gadget freeks

One of the considerations is will it go under your car/caravan and will it lift high enough to get a wheel off.

If it met those criteria it seems like a good idea but at that price you have to wonder how long it will last.

Like a trolley jack it would take up a lot of room in your car if you wanted to carry it around with you. Using at home - I'll stick with my trolley jack, thanks.

Does it come with an App or AI?

So will I with the caravan away from base, its all part of what I pay for. At home then its the faithful proper garage trolly jack gets used.

With the cars its different, the Golf if road conditions allow its the supplied "half jack" that I have used and found works well.
With the Disco, I am not as impressed with their scissor jack but again if road conditions are favourable I would use it. However, with the Disco its easier and IMO safer to use the trolley jack at home.

Direct lift jacks like in the OP are a danger with just lifting one side of a vehicle, the greater the suspension travel the worse so as this inevitably tips these types of jack.

I am not into carrying extra after market jacks, solo or with the van.
 
Other than an impressive looking stocking filler not for me. The base doesn't look safe. I used to lug the trolley jack to sites but no longer. Too heavy. For some years my faithful Kia Sorento 3 tier hydraulic bottle jack with square base lifts the Wyoming effortlessly. Also easy on the VW.
 
There are "plastics" & "plastics", like much else they are not all created equal.
No comparison between the likes of carbon fibre reinforced resins and other composites with homogeneous polythene, other than in the common generic term "plastic.


That said at a retail price of £23, I would not trust the jack in the OP, let alone anywhere nearing its claimed 5 tonnes.

While I agree with those sentiments. A quick Google shows many power jacks that look similar or the same with prices ranging in up to £130.

The more expensive ones may be no better.

By the sound of things, I must be one of the few people on here that remove my own wheels of the car to check out the drive shafts, suspension units etc. but I am only 74.
I wouldn't want to put my Santa Fe on that Electric powered jack.

My Subaru Forester was self diagnosing. It dropped a piece of its offside rear spring on the drive to show me it had broken. It also gave me audible warning when its front offside driveshaft started to go. Since both were offside faults I blame mini islands 🤭
 
That's so true, but I think here in Milton Keynes we only have about 150 of the mini ones.
Part of the Advanced Driving test, for Milton Keynes is to remember 70% of the terminology for roundabouts.
 
On the topic of gadgets, here's one for you that I came across in one of my tech mags.

A robot that folds your laundry. Yours for only $8K. It will sometimes need the intervention of a human operator working remotely from the factory (or laundry maybe) as it gets things wrong occassionally. This allows the operator to take a look around your home and play with your unmentionables at the same time.

I did a lot at 74 but 10 years later it is a different storey. To keep on Caravanning for 9to10 months of the year,reduced Caravan size to 2 Berth, no Awning, those days are gone,and only use Full service pitches, plus take 2 Mobility Scooters with us in back of the car.Only got 5 sites booked so far until May,and then look at others later to see how we are still coping.

I’ve been reliably informed that our washing machine has an anti crease mode in its various programmes. I may test it in the days of my enforced solitude. The last time I used its programme for Delicates for my Paramo jacket it took 2 hrs 45minutes. What on Earth it was doing for that time I can’t imagine. Previously the jacket was done in the bath, 10 minutes max.
 
.....my old towcar had a screw type bottle jack that worked perfectly as a caravan jack.
No need to carry any other jack for the caravan.
New towcar....Hyundai Santa Fe came with a scissor jack. Tested it on my 1600kgs caravan....couldn't even turn it to lift at all!
Now have to carry my hydraulic bottle jack when towing.
Not got to the stage of calling in and waiting for help yet!
