An advert appears regularly on GBNews for buying shares in Whisky maturing in its barrel.

They refer to it as Scotch Whisky.

Is that correct?

I have :-
Welsh Whisky
Irish Whiskey
Cotswolds Whisky
Scottish Whisky

I know in Scotland Whisky is also called Scotch.

So what is Scotch Whisky??🤔😉

So is it Scottish Whisky or Scotch Whisky?

Yet Whisky as a noun is Scotch but Scotch I thought does not describe the Country of origin😎
I remember this conversation at The Woosies fest in Ingelton, We needed a translator at the end of the afternoon.
I say it is Scotch Whisky.

I’ve always associated “Scots” with the language.

This is on a par with some of Buckman’s morning philosophical questions.

Would you like me to delete it?
The reference to Buckman who no longer posts?

I was very simply interested in the derivation and Scottish interpretation of the word Scotch , not a philosophical debate.

Hence as you Clive mentioned Philosophical then it seems only reasonable to delete.
It was just a very simple question not seeking anything else

Not at all. It was that quite regularly Buckman would post a question/thread quite early in the mornings, not necessarily caravan related. Don’t take my use of “philosophical “ too literally. Perhaps I should have used “interesting “.
