Oooops ! !

My caravan has a Truma Ultrastore water heater fitted which is fully drained for the winter. Unfortunately, the heater has been accidentally left switched on and I have connected the mains up, (to top up the battery). It must have been in this state for a couple of days before I noticed the indicator light was on.

I can't see an overheat re-set button on the unit and can find nothing in the Truma handbook other than a paragraph saying that there is a thermal cut-out mechanism fitted. As I read it, this mechanism will reset itself if the power is switched off for more than five minutes but will my blunder have done any lasting damage with it being on for so long. Does anyone out there know ?

Just fill your water carrier connect it all up and see if it still works....SIMPLES !

I've done the same thing on a couple of occasions, John. First time I took the gubbins apart to try and find the cut-out mechanism.. However, I later learnt that Truma are prepared for chumps like me and have designed their heater so that no damage is caused. Leave it all to cool down for an hour, then refill the heater, switch on it will almost certainly have fixed itself. Mine did. Twice

it should have 2 x cut outs to protect it.

We had one that burnt out due to forgetting to turn it off - it's easy to change but they aren't cheap at about

Hi John, unplug from the hook up and Truma heater will rest after about 10 mins, we had same problem, all ok though as stated truma have a built in cut out, hope that helps regards Terry

heater will RESET even, sorry lol

Wife left the power on ours, the element still worked, BUT the gasket sealing the element entry started weeping a tiny amount of water, but only when the water in the heater was COLD, when the heater was on the leak sealed itself, it took a long time to find the leak as the gasket is not easily seen, and they are lots of pipes and connectors in that area.

So beware.
