Orange France

Hi

I have acquired an "Orange France" dongle with sim card. I don't envisage any problems with installing on my netbook when we go to France but I wonder if anyone has advice as to topping up as it is payg. Perhaps it is just a case of the credit card online or a phone shop?

If anyone uses one any advice appreciated also opinions as to how effective they are.

Many Thanks.

I use a UK Orange when we're in France and invariably get connected to Orange Fr. The GPRS signal always seems to be good there wherever we are. I actually use my Netbook connected to the mobile.

I would think that you can get top-ups from any supermarket in France, they generally have a large presence in supermarkets.

We saw this advertised in an Orange shop in France. No idea how you top up, but did notice that the dongles were much more expensive to use in France compared to 3 or Vodaphone dongles here.

We just parked outside a MacDonalds and used their wi-fi. All the drive-ins seem to have it, but not all the ones in city centres.

IME the only way you can top up is by phone - but you will often find their 'agents' speak a little English.

BEWARE

In France on most PAYG services you have to top up at least every period - as little as two months. Making calls is not enough, the clock is only restarted by a top-up. If you fail to do it within the specified time the phone is cut off and you loose any credit - and you can't get it back.
