Crunched the side rail on a hidden Dartmoor rock by White Tor. Bent the whole mounting forcing the rail into the rear tyre.
Thank goodness I still carry sockets and spanners to remove the thing and continue. Now I know why Titanic sank,. You don’t see the one that gets you B)

I feel sorry for you , but what do you expect on the moors, I thought you were going to say you had scraped a grass wall, the grass is cosmetic, and stone 1/4 of an inch below.

Sorry to hear of your Ouch hope the damage is solely limited to the side fender.
Oh and a few quick tutorials on taking rock photos without shadow. :)

Dusty
When I took my Sorento off roading it was on the Salisbury Plain MTA which tended to be mud, dusty and gravel. So fortunately the only damage was to my dignity if it got stuck. At least with the side fender your bodywork doors and arches were protected.

You’ll be needing something akin to my Pajero running on 15 inch wheels with 33 BFG/MT and lifted on Pedders suspension. And with welded on rock sliders. Never really needed a snorkel as I hadn’t the heart to cut those beautiful wings. But even so she could wade a good depth nearly 0.8m. It had the honour of towing most LR models including Disco 4.

Me? -- I think I would have kept quiet about it, knowing I would have got comments like try 'Specsavers' etc. But it is hard luck Alan, but it happens!

Thanks chaps.
Sadly the torrential rain and thunder has stopped my on site smithy doing the metal work with breeze blocks and a lump hammer. The main brackets bent into a Z shape. Should be flat.
