Having a short break away - today is our 21st wedding anniversary. (Not in the caravan).

Staying in a favourite haunt of ours, The Hadley Bowling Inn near Droitwich.

Will add a few photos in due course.

No misbehaving in the ranks while I am away guys!!!

Next time we are in this neck of the woods we will take a trip down the river on that boat if it’s not fully booked up with private hire.
👍
We did it many years ago on a hot summer's day, but on the river it was quite cool. Although we had booked the return trip, when we got to Worcester we caught the bus back to Stourport. Due to the high banks of the river, your view is a bit restricted in many places, but the trip is worth doing.

A better trip is the steam train from Kidderminster to Bridgenorth. You then have a couple of hours to wander around Bridgenoth. On Saturdays they used have quite a big market in Bridgenorth.

We hired a narrow boat at Stourport but the section going north on the Severn wasn’t that great. The banks were high and most of it private land with no towpath. Also the river currents were quite strong even though it hadn’t rained for a while. We all wore bouancy aids but I made the kids stay inboard as trying to turn then manoeuvre the boat would have been difficult. Once on the canals life improved and the only problem was calculating if you could make the pubs for lunch and supper time.

In Stourport there was even an electric narrow boat company. They had LA cells and specific plug in points on the routes offered to customers. Bit ahead of their time but I don’t think that the business prospered.
