I have a 98 adria and on the outside on the side panel there are slight undulations. These seem to follow the out line of some of the inside furniture fitments. Does anydody know what would cause this.

Hi Gordon.

I think you are describing the lines on the sidewall where the aluminium outer skin is bonded to the wooden frame inside the wall. It's completely normal. The only vans where you don't really see it are those with textured sidewalls, those with GRP sidewalls and new vans with thicker aluminium sides such as current Swift models.

Hope this helps

Hi Nigel

Many thanks for your reply it has put my mind at ease.I had just bought the van and was becoming a bit paranoid. On the subjecty of tyres can you advise if I should go for a van tyre or car tyre. The mtpw is 1100 kgs present tyres are mixed,a 175R13c 8pr lt 97/95n and a 185/70 r13 85t. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks again

Gordon,

With regard to the tyres, you need to get matching ones for legal reasons. They don't need to be the same make, but they do need to be the same size and type.

Ideally for a caravan, a commercial tyre is better because they have extra reinforcing built in. The 175 tyre you mention is along the right lines as it has the 'C' after the size information which denotes a commercial tyre, while the 8PR indicates an heavy duty 8-ply tyre.

For a full explanation of tourer tyres, including how to check their age, cut and paste this link into your browser.
