I would call this the awning light - anyway it wasn’t functioning and I purchased two Ring automotive bulbs hoping for a cure - alas no luck still not working - all of the interior 12v lights are functional - no sign of corrosion in the wiring - any suggestions folks - by the way the awning light is a Ring RC7500

Check the contacts fir any voltage as from my experience with those lights it’s invariably corrosion. If no voltage at contacts work your way back along the wiring with a meter. The other possibility would be a supply fuse failure or the switch itself.

I don't know if this helps, but on my elderly ABI (1996) the awning light only operates when connected to hook up.

Maybe more modern vans have a different arrangement...?

I believe the rationale for only having it working whilst on mains hook up was that some folks ( occasionally!) left the awning light on all night....... sometimes all day as well! and with say two 10w bulbs (if running at 12 volts) it would take a large slice out of a standard leisure battery's capacity.

It might be worth checking to see if it comes on when connected to hook up....

Regards to all, and as always,
Happy Caravanning

This is the version with the PIR - so maybe that has failed
Chris - it’s the version with the switch - I’ve tried to source a new one however most if not all vendors are out of stock - I’ll get the multimeter out first

..........most likely an earthing problem due to a poor contact as has been said.
Try WD40 on any electrical connections including switch internals.
These lights work much better with replacement LED bulbs fitted.

I have an elddis typhoon 1997 and it only works in mine on hook up and madly the bathroom lights the same, I brought a solar one and it's ace with remote control but haven't decided on a solution for bathroom yet, I am presuming you have tried it on both settings
