Guess what????

some very happy people here today, even though it was a hell of a journey for me.
We are now the proud owners of a Lunar Quasar and are delighted with it, full service history, its in fabulous condition,
they transfer our motor mover and stabilizer over inclusive of price.
Still to have a full valet and service before we get it, and new tyres fitted as it is just over 5yr old.
1 owner from new from same garage
no damp had my meter!!

Layout exactly what we were after, the dog has its own wee hiddy hole,
it even has a drinks cabinet!!! what is it with drinks bars in caravans are you all raving alkies?
got good trade in as promised
all going according to plan, we are back on the road in a little under 2wks..

did see a horrible accident on the way home it looked like a van(perhaps a pegasus) had unhitched and spun on the carriage way opposite to ours,dont know if anyone was hurt but a motor bike was involved, the only damage we could see was the front end of the caravan off side and bunker were all smashed in

Hi Lollie

Know how you feel getting delivery of a new (to you) van. In that position ourselves early this year as we traded our Lunar Zenith (loved it for 8 years) in for a Swift Challenger. Like you, the layout for us is perfect, having acquired another family member since we had the Lunar.Have been away for 2 short breaks and are still finding new things to use that we love, ie drinks cabinet (a must!!

) outside bbq point, still very novel and can't wait to go to France this Thursday for just over 2 weeks to really get to know our 'new van'. If you feel good about the deal that you got, it always feels so much better each time you go away, don't you think?
PS I speak for myself but whats wrong with being a raging alkie (hic

) when on a bit of R&R?

CHEERS simon after a sticky start with our carvaning world,we are hoping this is us back amongst "oor ain folk" as the saying goes, and a tip to others, never buy off people who are not vanners!!
Im feeling the weight lift, already looking for a caravan park to visit, Ive won a magazine make-over so we need to be in the glasgow area of scotland around 3 august so plan to take the van for our outting, new van, new mummy make over,wonder what will look best, probably the van(in my eyes anyway)
Have great fun in france.

PS the OH just said we got one of those too, BBQ point, see even more to look forward too.

Hi Lollie
Warmest congratulations on buying your Lunar after going through what must have been a very low point in your life.
You have done the right thing in buying from a dealer because your rights are cast iron under the sale of goods act so you won't find yourselves in a similar situation to that when you bought privately, no matter what.
Your first job is to have a look online for a fair and decent insurance policy to ensure that there will be no more caravan related heartache and of course the second job is to plan your trips away for the rest of the year.
I fully expect to see you asking all sorts of questions on the forum and I'm sure that your fellow members will be happy to tell you everything that you need to know in order to enjoy your caravan for years to come. I'm sure that your posh drinks cabinet will come in useful when you're away in your caravan.
Is there any chance of the dealer chucking in an awning or perhaps a hitchlock and wheelclamp? Don't forget to take the leisure battery off the Bailey because caravans are not always supplied with batteries and of course remember to keep your ehu lead, step, water and waste carriers unless you've remembered what your auld Uncle Jack taught you and managed to chisel new stuff out of the dealer

In all fairness I dont think i could or would have come this far without all the help from yourself and the guys on the forum, you have all been wonderful and i really mean that, as you know i have been very down, which isnt surprising considering everything that has happened on top of the caravan stuff this summer..
We have emptied the caravan tonight and i gave it a clean out, not that it needed it as it is spotless, its such a shame, but once they fix that problem, it will hopefully be a nice starter van for someone.
We did tell the dealer about the problem and they werent phased, so im sure they can sort it out just fine.
It is a very good dealership that we went to, in fact it is the very place we started our hunt in the very first instance and really liked them and their vans, as they are all very well looked after and of a very high standard. They were lovely to us too so helpful and of course they go over everything with you and nothing is too much trouble. the way it should be but sadly isnt always the case.
When we asked about transferring the motor mover etc, no big deal thats all included in the price, and they always replace tyres on vans 5yrs or more, which i have never known a garage to offer in the price. In fact that has been a royal pain in the bahookie before.
It was sad clearing out the old van tonight,but we have come full circle and have got the van we would have loved to have afforded in the first instance, all in all we are down about £750 which isnt too bad all things considered. And yes the OH did have his moment of if we had just shopped here in the beginning.
But if anything we have learned a valuable lesson, dont get sucked in by people and walk away if its just not right!!better to be embarrassed than broke.

I have been on CCinsurance tonight for a quote, but i think i'll need to phone for a more accurate quote, as we will never be going abroad in it, and I need to know what their no claims means, do they mean purely caravan, or do they include car in that no claims bit..right now i dont think the super policy is for us, its more than the home insurance!!

so standard looks ok, but will need to see what can be tweaked in there policies,as some bits can be removed and others added, if anyone knows?

But dont worry, i will not allow you enough time to miss me, if in between holidays I can help someone on the forum i will, but I will admit as of next wk I might just be a little quieter than normal and just enjoying some R&R of my own.

Its amazing how much better we both feel just knowing that we have moved on now and that we can just enjoy our van again as we loved just getting the caravan and getting it all ready for us and then going away.it works so well for us and even more so with me being medically disabled it allows me a freedom ive not experienced in years,as im still in my own wee house but i can take it with me.And caravans do offer you more privacy than hotels etc, i can have all my bits and bobs that i need daily and dont have to explain to anyone one why and dont need to keep moving them place to place..I think more disabled people should think of caravanning it does open the horizons to you again.

Now get some time away booked because the year is getting on and your van will be just parked at home with you staring at it wishing your life away by praying for next spring

Thankfully we are retired and still have 8 weeks booked before the end of the year. The plus factor is, hopefully, the grass wont grow as fast so I wont need to keep coming home to cut it

Hi Lollie
Caravan insurance does not include car cover and you should inform your car insurance supplier that you will be towing a caravan.
This shouldn't affect your policy or the price, it simply covers you in the event of an incident because you have made full disclosure.
I should contact a few different insurers to get the best quote if I were you. Both clubs offer excellent no quibble insurance cover but obviously price has to be a consideration and there's no sense in paying for things such as continental travel which you don't need.
Ask in the Insurance, Security and Storage section and you will no doubt receive a few good suggestions as to what type of policy to look for.
You are spot on about the hotel room on wheels analogy, we think of our caravan as such and it's a comfortable home from home for us. Don't forget to post some pictures when you have picked up your caravan.

Hi Lollie,
Congratulations on your new caravan. I've been following your sad tale, even logged on when I was on holiday in France to see if you had got any reply from those you had bought the original from. Really pleased that things seem to have worked out for you.
As others have said get your new van insured before you move it off the dealership forecourt. I'm with the Caravan Club, not always the cheapest but does offer good cover. I used to be with Caravan Guard, good cover, good price but at one point they raised their security conditions and wanted security posts installed in my driveway, but worth giving them a call. Whichever insurer you go with check carefully what security requirements they insist on, some vary a bit.
The dealership you bought from seems very good from what you say, I've never heard of one who automatically changes tyres on vans they sell at 5.years old. Can you say who and where they are?

Anyway, well done and good luck. Hope you will continue to post here and let us know how you get on. Any queries you have I'm sure someone on here will be able to help.

Hi Guys

I will post some lovely pics once "bella" arrives, slept well last night now there's a first eh?
yes i'll need to get onto the insurance chat and see what folk are saying, the van will never be out of scotland in the foreseeable future as it is too far for me in a journey far too painful, most places are going to be within 2hrs of home.
we will be keeping it at home too because, we have a side garden with plenty room, we have a Alko hitch lock and wheel lock for it.our car also gets parked up against it!!
My car insurers know that i already tow a caravan,had that sorted before we even had one!
what I meant was the no claims thingy, but i suspect commons sense tells me the answer, i have full max no claims on my car so does OH, but of course we have never had caravan insurance before, so therefore no no claims to build on i suspect.

We are going to be creative with our time away, as our wee lad is starting school in 3wks so we will be away on holiday straight away of course bearing in mind what happened with OH, not so much a problems with dates right now(every cloud lol)
so once its up here its packed and we are offski, so if yer wee lollie is quiet, just think well at least she is away have a break and given us peace in the mean time! lol

you know one of the nicest things about this site is the ammount of people out there looking out for me, the real vanners took it really bad like "those people" had cast doubt on all our good names, and to an extent they did! the first time I really thought oh my god i bought from someone who hadnt a clue was when I asked, if they had changed water filters or sterilized there pipes recently they hadnt a clue what i was on about, and i had a terrible sick feeling in my tummy!!

I dont want to tempt fate at the moment but will recogmend the dealer once my wee bella is in her new home!
Im just going on to insurance chat to see what folks are saying, after what i saw yesterday, we sure the pegusus had unhitched, then yes i need to know bella will be ok dokey on the road, from us and others.

Its so exciting now, instead of dread, im just looking forward to something nice for a change,.we hope to be away from next monday, not going far, but that was always the plan for us, to allow us to explore what more or less on our door step.but at least we are getting abreak before the wee one starts school cause thats stressful enough in its own right. He of course is cool about it, me im loosing sleep.
I cant put into words the graditude i feel with the support i have got from PC mag and the forum members,it really did hit hoe just how much the whole saga upset and left a bad taste in the mouth of proper vanners.
However, i hope i can say in confidence its not a mistake we are ever likely to make again.

Hi Thanks Thursdays child for all your support over that very lenghty time, just trying to figure where to go,havent heard for the parks we had choosen and as there arent really other in the area and we dont want to be high and dry we might head to fort william as the 3 main parks have about 600 spaces btween them..
