Hi, could you please advise me on the best way of packing the overhead storage cupbopards with the basic, cups, saucers, plates, beakers. Do you leave them in loose or do people pack them into boxes for safe travel. Thanks

Hi Lindsey

Always pack lighter items in the upper cupboards, small baskets are useful and if you have the cup/plate holders use them, be careful what you put in the cupboard over the glass hob as when you travel and get on site if you open the door they can fall out onto the glass lid and smash it so put very light items in that cupboard. All my plates and bowls are melamine and wine glasses are plastic, I have two mugs because I cant drink a brew out of a plastic cup!! Anything heavy make sure you put it lower down such as tins etc and try to put heavy items over the axle. The last thing you want is a dent in your worktop? Its also safer for towing and should make your van more stable if you pack it right. I always end up with something falling out of the cupboard when I set up and open the door so I have been meaning to buy some of those small plastic baskets. Hope this helps you?

hi lindsay, we have those wire racks in our lockers. there are ones that will fit the cups & others which hold the plates in place. i think most caravan shops will have them & would imagine they are easy to fit. we also have bottle holders, keeps the essentials in place lol.... all my stuff is melamine, saves any breakages

watch out how you store things we have to lovely holes in both sides of our worktops with things falling out the cupboards, first hole was a glass as my husband did'nt wont to drink his whisky out of plastic glass (he has to now) second hole i am not sure no one knows of anything falling out of the cupboard but these worktops for all the size they are are expensive to replace.

Hi Lindsey we tend to place a bath towel or one of the van cushions over the contents of the top lockers this tends to stop the items bouncing about & keeps them in place.Tins ect we put in a folding crate on the floor

Lindsay,

I line all the overhead storage cupboards with the non slip rubber which you can buy on a roll from caravan shops or Lakeland Plastics. In the overhead cupboard of our Swift Conqueror which holds the cups and crockery it stops any movement of the cups etc. As a result i have never had anything falling out of a top cupboard. I make sure that the plates, bowls are a tight fit in the racks.
