overnight enroute to dover

could any one give us an idea of where we could stay overnight enroute to dover? We are leaving home tyneside about tea time and thought we would get to about sheffield nottingham area before stopping, are there any service stations in the area or are they as dangerous as the ones in france? Are there any cls or small sites near the motorway we don't even need hook up any suggestions would be helpful.

Helen, Sheffield and Nottingham suggest you are taking the M1. We live on Teesside and stick with the A1 till the A11 then M11 etc. when heading for Dover. If using that option Milestone C.Club affiliated site north of Newark about 1 mile from the A1 and about 160 miles south of Tyneside might be an suitable.

Thanks for that yes we are sticking to the A1, M11 route as usual I was using those places for distance really. That site sounds good do you know about any service stations?

As Klarky points out I should have said A14 not A11. Sorry, cannot help with suitable service stations.
