Overnight halt Amien area?

Good morning all

Could anyone reccomend an over night halt for us arriving about8pm Frid night in Aug about 2/3 hours drive from Calais somewhere near maybe Amien prehaps? We are to get the 3pm ferry from Dover, there will be 2 vans and we dont want to venture too far from the motorway as the next days halt will be at our usual overnight in Beaune on our way to St Remy in Provence.

Thanking all in anticipation

Madeleine

Madeleine, which route are you taking? Amiens sounds a bit out of the way for a trip down via Beaune. We normally take the A26 down towards Reims. We have found two good overnight stops along this route. The first is near to St Quentin, 'Le Vivier aux Carpes', at Seraucourt-le-Grand, and is about an hour and a half from Calais. A bit further south, probably nearer to your 2-3 hour target, is 'Au Bord be l'Ain' in Guignicourt, just north of Reims.

Of course, you may have want to go via Amiens for other reasons, so these may not be appropriate, but if they are along your route, I think you would find either very satisfactory.

Yes, Amien was a bit vague, we are using the a26, weve camped at the carpe lakes once before for a weeks holiday, do you think there would be anyone to book us in as late as 8pm ish at the other site you mentioned?

If you do go via Amiens we stayed at the Parc Des Cygnes, for stopovers to and from the Loire.

It was a nice clean site, but not alot for the kids to do.

The showers were big and showers and toilets very clean. Shop was basic, bar small and expensive.

Good stopover.
