I've just booked two weeks in Brittany this August. On my return I plan to leave the campsite on a Saturday and I have a ferry booked for early Sunday morning, allowing me to travel to Calais without ant time pressures. Has anyone stayed overnight at the ferry port in Calais, prior to an early morning ferry? Is this permitted?

We did similar last year, but instead of staying at the port there were quite a few sites within 15-20mins drive. We stayed on a small site just outside Peuplinges (I think). Pleasant little village with an excellent sea food restaraunt.

We got a proper nights sleep (which I doubt you would get at the port) with good sanitary facilities, electric (was reversed polarity thought) and a sea view to boot. I think the cost was something like 14 euros for the night.

Try Caravan Europe 1 for others, which is a tenner well spent.

I overnight at Calais port twice a year and I have never had a problem. Just stay away from the lorries and their chillers ( very noisy.
