Overnight stop om M6..

Hi Gavin,

Tebay services just north of J38 on the north bound has a dedicated caravan park, very nice last time we stayed on it.

Alternatively about a mile off junction 39 in the village of Shap there is nice CL opposite an excellent pub.

Gavin,

You go off at Junction 37 (M6) and it is literally 5mins.up the road.Ideally placed for an overnight. We have used it once and would definitely use it again.

The Caravan Club have a site at Troutbeck Head which is approx.15mins off the M6 heading towards Keswick on the A66,and then left onto the A5091.

Englethwaite Hall C.C. site just a few miles south of Carlisle. It's about 3 miles off the M6 and the site is in the grounds of a no longer mansion. No facilities though but does have excellent dog walks. Wardens are nice and don't stick to the 12 O'Clock rule although if you are early it would be polite to ring first. A lovely setting.

Alan W,

Are you talking about Green Farm Shap?Have just looked it up in the book, but it appears not to take caravans.Tents are mentioned and motorhomes.

Maureen

Hi Maureen,

Yes I do mean Green Farm, Shap and yes they are still taking caravans, irrespective of what it might say in the book. We know the owners and live in the village. Facilities are minimal as they are in the making changes having recently taken it over from the parents.
