Hi. Bit of a different route for us this year so need a bit of help please.
We are travelling from Dunkirk to Burgundy in June via Reims and need an overnight stop between 150 and 200 miles into France. As it is only for one night it just needs to be a comfortable site but near the motorway.
I have looked at one at Val de Vesle nr Reims but anymore suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew
There is a very pleasant site at Guignicourt, which is close to ( but not too close to) Junction 14 of the A26, 15km north of Reims.
It is Camping Municipal Bord de l'Aisne and is listed in the Caravan Club Europe Volume 1 and in the Michelin guide. We have stayed there in transit several times. There are normally plenty of pitches available and you should have no problem in June. As suggested by the name, it is adjacent to the River Aisne and there are local walks on the river and canal banks. To access, leave the A26 at Junction 14 and turn East towards Guignicourt on the D925. Continue through the centre of Guignicourt and turn R at a garage just before you come out of the village. Turn R again and then L into the campsite (beware of the fairly vicious speed hump at the entrance to the site).
There is a supermarket in the village and, if you can afford to celebrate your arrival in France, there is an excellent restaurant in Neufchatel-sur-Aisne, a few km further East (Le Jardin).
Bonne Route.
Cheers
Paul

Andrew the Municipal at Val de Vesle is a lovely little campsite and relatively cheap we have stayed a couple of times. Some picture here http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/ValdeVestle.htm

Thanks David. Knew you would come up with something. It looks a bit fiddly from the motorway, is it ok? We looked at this one from the ACSI book.

I use Camping la Barbuisse, just south of Arcis sur Aube,250 miles from Dunkirk,j23 off A26. Pleasant, quiet, just like a UK CL, but a bit bigger. Last year it cost €7 per night.Basic sowers, but OK.

A bit too far given our ferry crossing time, looked it up and it sounded fine. Will make a note of it in case we get earlier crossing and get further than expected.
Thanks

Its just off the N road that runs between Reims and Challons, there is a big silo, which can be seen from the main road, its on the canal which you go past and then its signed in the village.

You could try Camping Lac D'Orient - 10 mins from J 23 A26 heading east. After an overnight stop you can then continue along that road to pick up the A5 heading towards Burgundy J22. A newish Kawan site in southern Champagne - lovely new wash block - reasonable restaurant and takeaway. Takes camping cheques in low season.
