Hi All, We will be traveling down to Clippesby Hall near Great Yarmouth in August for a couple of weeks. As we are just outside Edinburgh we are thinking of splitting the journey in two so looking for an overnight stopover around Wetherby area of A1. Anybody have any recommendations? Looked at a couple of sites but minimum stay of two nights which is no use to us. Thanks.

Have a look at this one .

I doubt it would be suitable as
1 there is no EHU
2 it is a Bramham a bit south of Wetherby and quite close to the A1(M) which is VERY noisy there due to a hill.

Passed this one the other day - Sapele Court (Caravan Club CL.)
Leave the A1(M) at J46 and turn right
At next island turn left
Go straight on to third island and turn left over the A1(M) into Walton Lane
Go straight through Walton passing the British Library buildings behind the trees on the right. The road curves right and just as it straightens there is an entrance on the right in trees.
It is about 3 miles from the A1 so probably fairly quiet and appears to take single night stops.
Leaving, return on the road to the A1 and turn left at the island over the bridge - this is the old A1. At Wetherby island turn left to the A1 at J45.

There is a private site - formerly the CC Great Yorkshire Showgroad site - on the A661 Wetherby Road entering Harrogate. Leave A1 at J45 and turn right on A59. Go straight on at all islands and right at the fourth island onto the A661. Turn left at the next lights down the side of Sainsburys. On leaving go back to the A1 @ J47 - DO NOT take A661 to Wetherby.

There is a C&CC site at Boroughbridge. Leave the A1 at J48 onto the A6055. At the top of the slip turn sharp left onto the A168 northbound. At the next island turn left under the A1 and the site is about 500m on the right. It does take non-members.

If you are going up the A1 the CL Ellengarth at Bellerby is lovely as is the CL at Crakehall Watermill, both within 15 mins of the A1, and near Richmond which is a lovely little market town as is Bedale.

Er, the OP is asking for help travelling from Edinburgh to Great Yarmouth. I doubt Richmond - nice place that it is (my wife was born there) - would be of much help travelling south?
