Overnighting in spain

Hi all my name is Geoff I have just Joined this site and have been motor homing for 3 years,does anyone know of an aire near zaragoza for an overnight stop we used to stop at the municipal site at zaragoza but find this a bit expensive and not very good.we are heading to calpe in early September and find zaragoza is about right for the journey.

A quick check on i-camping-cars gives two stop overs in zaragoza one is on the motorway , which ,personally, I would not recommend and the other is a camp site Camping Ciudad de Zaragoza,, 50012 ZARAGOZA (Aragón) ie the Municipal which is about 20€ per night, not bad for Spain and safer than a night on the Motorway.i-Camping car

If you can make it a bit further, we used this site in 2013, near Lake Caspe (not to be confused with Calpe!)

- it's in the ACSI scheme, and we really liked it (even though we're not generally "site people").

But it's getting on for 2 hours further than Zaragoza (we were coming from Bilbao) - not sure how the geography would work for you.

I would say lake Caspe is a bit off the beaten track for a night stop. Depends where you are coming from? If coming from France, you have more choice. than if coming from northern Spain.
We also will be heading to Calpe Mar in September for a few weeks (Not all winter, sadly)
We stayed in some of the ACSI sites in northern Spain (around the Zargossa area) end of June. If you want any views on them. let me know.

Yes thanks chirene I would be grateful if you could do that,I don't want to stop at the zaragoza municipal site but anything else I would consider.zaragoza or near is about right for journey to calpe.thanks geoff

Hi Geoff
Where are you coming from? If you let me know your proposed route, it would help, as sites in that part of Spain, appear to be few and far apart. We don't use aires We have found it better to stay in France prior to crossing into Spain, them a fast route down from the somport tunnel (good roads) can do calpe in one go!

Hi chirene this time we are using the Plymouth-santander route as we live in devon this is the most practical,we have stopped at the municipal site in zaragoza in the past but don't like it.

Any lat/long Neil ? Looks useful for us, as we use the Somport Tunnel to cross into Spain, and then down to Valencia

Hi Geof Sorry for delay, had to transfer my notes to main computer to print my log.
Re stopping from Ferry to Calpe.
We stopped at an acsi site no 2557 Vera de Moncaya, on our back in June Very basic but at at 14 e for one night OK Close to a small village, so if you wanted to get bread for the journey , there is a small supermarket and a bakers. Camp also has a bar/restaurant. Seemed to be run by a young couple, who where very enthusiastic
You could go Burgos/Madrid /Alicante and then up to Calpe. These are good roads and a reasonable stop off at ACSI 2594 Aranjeuz , a very interesting city (the Spanish equivalent to Versaille, (so they claim) and easy to get train to Madrid
Have a safe journey, which ever way you go, may see you in Calpe!

No name that I know but the GPS is accurate and will take you straight to it, there may also be signs to the adjacent amusement park.
