Oxidisation

Has anyone else had a problem with oxidisation on bodywork? My Clermont caravan is only 5 years old and has been serviced regularly but I have just had a Quote of around £1500 to replace a side panel which has a small patch of oxidisation near the battery box (it looks a bit like rust damage). Apparently this is not covered by an extended warranty.

Paul what is the side panel made of? If it is an aluminium alloy panel they can oxidise but it is not life threatening (to the caravan) it is only cosmetic damage. Can you not get someone like "chipsaway" to respray the area?
