Just spent a glorious five days at this site. My son (12) and I arrived mid day and asked whether we wanted a pitch near to the lake or higher up. Directed down to bottom part of site backing directly onto the woods. Had a few slight problems with the new caravan (1992 Avondale Pearle Adonis) but the warden sorted them out, although could not get fridge to work of electric, gas worked it fine. The kids were allowed to ride their bikes up and down and play football without too many complaints, although I think if you go to a 280 pitch site during the May week school holiday you have to accept there will be children playing. Site shop limited but walk, cycle into Consiton an easy half hour there and back. Fantastic walks, cycing and generally lying on the lake side. Highly recommend. Little caravan/tent shop called David Watts in Consiton sells everything you could possibly need, dont be put off by the fact you can hardly get into the shop for things he does know where they are!

Sorry been away a long time due to a relative leaving this planet, & a very broke & expensive computer.
We are shortly going to Park Coppice for 8 nights starting 1st july
& have downloaded a route using cc club, but i have heard that it is an orkward narrow drive & i have a 25 foot outfit is this the best way to reach this site

Am pretty sure its A593 ! But dont worry, we went to this site on only (I think) second or third time towing a van ! My partner managed admirably! 24ft van ! Yes it is winding and narrow in SOmE places but with your experience you will be fine, we just went very slow but hardly any traffic so it was fine, beautiful site !!!

LOL ! No worries,just promise me that if you finish your Jura whisky that you will keep a safe distance from the lake,dont be tempted to go for a midnight rowboat adventure !!!!!!!!!

The Drive in is very Scarey, I drive all day all day as well but it made me nervous. But it is well worth it, site is excellent, quite laid back not like alot of CC sites where you cant breath without the net curtains twitching

Am intersted in the best way to get to this site from Scotland as I plan to go there in August with my Elddis caravan.I have no problem getting down to the M6 but what I do need to know is when I get nearer to Coniston is the road from Windermere going north around the top of the lake better to go or would I be better going from the south around the bottom of the lake up the way. I travelled the road last year in the car [citroen c5] and remembered the car on its own seemed awfully large for the road in places. Your help would be appreciated thanks Mark P.S distance is not the important factor I am more interested in the easiest road to travel as I am relatively new at this

This was the first time I had taken the Avondale Adonis out and although a smaller van was worried about the route. If you log onto the caravan club web site, or call them, they actually have a suggested route which is around the bottom of the lake, this avoids the really windy roads and small villages around Coniston. Enjoy your time there, remember the dingy, bikes and walking shoes and you will have a great time. P.s not many flies but lots and lots of catepillars!

You could come in from jun 40 on the A66 towards Keswick But once off the A591 Ambleside it is very twisty & narrow & could be stressful towing.

It's so quiet & it's nice seeing kids being kids also lots of doggy's. Mine Benson had a great time, the weather was scorching from day one till end off hol, very pleasent wardens (i didnt see any squirrels) maybe 2 much whisky

Nothing but choo choos at Ravenglass! you should have taken the la`l Ratty ( minature railway 8mls long) to Eskdale the bonniest valley in the lakes (in my opinion) A walk to the water falls is well worth it, or a look at one of the oldest working mills in the country at Boot, and thats without the scenery which is stunning.
