Park near Birmingham and Plymouth

Could anyone recommend a caravan park near Birmingham and also Plymouth good for dogs. Help would be much appreciated.

I don't know about the Plymouth area so I'm sorry I cant help you with that.

Close to Birmingham are two C&CC sites, one at Kingsbury Water Park just off the M42 not far from Birmingham and on the way to the M5.

The other one is at Clent Hills and it looks to be more tranquil than Kingsbury. The Clen Hills site is not far from the M5 and is about 15 miles to B.ham city centre.

I've not stayed on either site but perhaps other forum members might be able to tell you more.

Hi Isabel

There's a CC site at Birmingham called Chapel Lane. Easy to find and access is good. I've stopped there. Its a tidy site, there is a dog walk but I didn't use it (husband was on dog walking duty). I would recommend it.

Can't comment on Plymouth sorry.

Isabel - Are you intending to use the ferry from Plymouth? If so you could park on the quay side overnight for free and there is plenty of room to exercise the dog. Just a thought as I had the impression that Brimingham and Plymouth you were stopping off en route to going to France.

CC site in Plymouth is down a lane near to the coastal path, with lots of long walks. There is another site called Riverside next to Marsh Mills roundabout on A38. Almost alongside it is a cycle path (old railway line) that will take you towards Dartmoor, at least 6 miles long.

If you are looking for an overnight stay try Smithaleigh just offthe A38 past Ivybridge. Riverside at Marshmills might be better for any longer. Good walks and cycle path up the Plym valley, Easy access to city center.

Clent Hills is excellent. If you have time take the dogs on the hills. Best access is from Nimmins Wood car park. Ask warden for details. Car park is

We stayed at Clent Hills last year on our stop back from Cornwall. Excellent site facilities spotless. There is a play area. There are hardstandings and grass. The grass pitches can get a little too close to the play area so you have to watch the stray footballs, but the hardstandings are away from this. We were on hardstanding and it was a great stop off. Would definately use again.

not sure if this is any help

if your coming at Brum from the NW direction (i.e. down the M6) then you could look at Cannock Chase , its a little way off the Mway but probably no more that some already suggested.

Also there was a Caravan Club CL site just of M6 Junc 12 on the A5 heading into Cannock. Not sure its still there though.

Never stayed at either so cant comment on quality.
