Passat: DSG or manual

I'm going to get a current shape Passat 2.0 140 bhp to tow a 1300 kg caravan. It will be about 2 years old and most of the cars I have seen up for sale seem to be DSG. Does anyone have any experience of towing with DSG: is it any good?

I have the SEAT Toledo 2.0Tdi with DSG gearbox and tow a similar weight van.

I get 29mpg towing and have found it to be excellent.

It is the same engine / gearbox as the Passat.

We have the Skoda 140 dsg and tow 1324 klg with ease. last week 780 miles 29mpg.

Hi Henry. I tow just over 1400 kg with a Passat 170 bhp DSG.

It is a good gearbox, but can be rather jerky at low and manoeuvering speeds. Other than that, no prob.

Just be aware they are VERY EXPENSIVE to repair if & when they go wrong, average life is appx 60k & a bill of appx
